How can 13YARN help me? 

We are here to provide crisis support 24/7 to yarn with you without judgement and provide a confidential, culturally safe space to yarn about your needs, worries or concerns. We will work with you to explore options for on-going support. You know you will be connected to another Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person who will understand where you are coming from and value knowing HOW to listen, without judgement or shame.

MYSS Inc. is funded by the Department of Child Safety, Seniors & Disability Services to implement the U-Nite program.  This program is intended to provide an early intervention response to issues faced by young people and their families.  This is a flexible, client driven service that deals especially with issues that lead young people to be in conflict with their families.  The flexibility of the service enables it to adapt to the particular needs and circumstances of both young people and their carers and provides practical support, a range of intervention approaches and links to other services and supports.  The service operates within the Mackay region, using a range of intervention modalities, and provides support to young people up to 18 years of age, and their families.

CASA provides short term supported Crisis Accommodation for families.

Families are defined as one or more adults with one or more children in their majority care living in the Mackay Regional Council area.

The length of occupancy depends on individual circumstances but is generally up to 12 weeks.

Support is offered via case management to help families to reach mutually agreed goals, addressing the cause of homelessness and provide assistance to exit to alternative stable affordable housing.

Our service offers support, crisis intervention counselling, housing options and alternatives by fully trained professional staff.

headspace Mackay offers FREE confidential counselling services for young people aged 12 - 25 across Mackay region.

We give legal help to financially disadvantaged people about criminal, family and civil law matters.

Kalyan Youth Service is a not-for-profit community organisation supporting young people in the Mackay region since 1985. Managed by a committee of local volunteers and a team of staff supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and staying in Kalyan’s crisis accommodation.
