Due to a lack of investment in youth crime prevention in Mackay, FACESS as the ONLY early intervention youth at risk centred service provider has been forced to step back from delivering critical services that kept young people at risk out of the justice system.

72-hour post-release intervention – No longer available, leaving at-risk youth without immediate support after detention

Mentoring & life skills programs – Stopped due to no funding, removing positive role models and guidance for vulnerable youth

Education & vocational pathways support – Youth at risk struggling in school now have fewer options to stay engaged and on track

Community outreach & family support – Reduced capacity to work with families to prevent crisis and youth offending

Without funding, early intervention services disappear—and the cost is more young people at risk falling into crime, more families in crisis, and fewer chances for real change.

Mackay deserves investment in real solutions. It’s time to fund FACESS and give young people a fighting chance.
