Who We Are

FACESS is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation committed to empowering children, young people, families, and communities across the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions. We deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services that support individuals to overcome challenges, strengthen family and cultural connections, and achieve lasting positive outcomes.

Our work is grounded in the belief that children and young people thrive when they are connected to family, culture, community, and opportunity. Through early intervention, prevention, transition support, family strengthening, and reunification services, we walk alongside children, young people, families, carers, and kinship networks to build resilience, promote self-determination, and create pathways to independence and wellbeing.

Rather than responding only when crises occur, FACESS focuses on providing proactive, holistic support that addresses the underlying factors contributing to vulnerability. We work collaboratively with government agencies, community organisations, Elders, and local service providers to ensure individuals and families receive coordinated, person-centred support that reflects their unique strengths, goals, and cultural identity.

As a community-controlled organisation, we are committed to delivering services that are led by community, informed by culture, and driven by the voices of the people we support. Every program is designed to strengthen families, preserve cultural identity, improve life outcomes, and contribute to safer, healthier, and more connected communities.
